Residency Application

Deadline for submitting applications is October 15th, 2023.

Eligible applicants are writers, translators and book professionals from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia and Slovenia.

For the year 2024, residencies are available in 10 cities in Southeast Europe: Belgrade, Bucharest, Cetinje, Novo Mesto, Prishtina, Sarajevo, Skopje, Sofia, Split and Tirana for the duration of 2 – 6 weeks. Fellowships cover travel costs, accommodation in a fully furnished writers’ apartment as well as subsistence of 250 Euro per week. You can apply for translation residencies, writing residencies, interdisciplinary cooperation residencies, practical exchange residencies, research trips and virtual residencies; each with their own specifics.

Residency

Book and literature relevant professionals (booksellers, publishers, editors, librarians, journalists and critics, archivists, literary agents, managers of literature houses, festival managers and staff, literature lecturers, literature scouts including translators etc.) receive a visiting program organized by the partner or a practical placement in an organization or environment relevant to them.

Residency for writers who are working on a project which will be published later.

Residency for translator who have a project under contract to work on a translation, possibly with a visiting programme in relevant institutions (libraries, archives, writers’ associations, publishers) to meet new authors in the country and possibly translate them later. Applicants at the start of their career are encouraged to apply. Also encouraged is working with a mentor who would offer support in the questions of language and translation, as well as in terms of introducing the translator to the literary scene.

Residency for working on a literary project in Southeast Europe.

Writers or translators collaborate with an artist from another discipline and work on an interdisciplinary artistic project in the city of residency. This should be a cross-border cooperation. The collaboration of an author with a translator is possible. The literary dimension of the project should be clearly expressed, and the two disciplines should meet on equal footing. The project should be aimed at a specific audience.

“At home” residency which is done alone or in partnership (writer/translator, writer/another artist), which focuses on a digital project to be used and displayed later by Traduki.
